Buick Open
A host of top golfers play at the Buick Open as it is generally held two weeks prior to the PGA Championship. It is the third of the three Buick sponsored events on the US PGA Tour.
The tournament had been a regular stop on the US PGA Tour calendar from its birth in 1958 till 1969. It again became a member of the US PGA Tour in 1977 and has been a part of it ever since.
Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan was the tournament's first home and has continued to be associated with it till date, except for one year. It was held at the Flint Elks Country Club in 1971.
There is festive atmosphere here on hole No. 17. Fans often create chants, directing them at the golfers making it a fun place to watch the tournament. The golfers are known to love this atmosphere.
Tiger Woods won the 2006 Buick Open by three strokes over Jim Furyk. He received a cheque of $864,000 out of the tournament purse of $4,800,000.
Tournament schedule and tickets
The last edition of the Buick Open was held from 31 July-6 August. Tickets were priced at $35 for each day of the four rounds.
As the Buick Open is played only two weeks before the PGA Championship, most of the top golfers of the world use it a tune up tournament. As we continue on this tour we will learn about the other tournaments in the US PGA Tour.
