PGA Tour
One of the most important professional tour organizations in USA, PGA Tour is a world renowned name in the field of world golf tournaments. Initially a part of PGA America, it was known as the PGA of America's Tournament Players Division. It branched off from its main body in 1968. In 1981 due to some differences with PGA of America, the PGA Tour changed its name to TPA Tour, 'Tournament Players Association', but it again adopted its initial name in 1982 when the issue was resolved. One of the high profile organizations of USA golf, good performance in this Tour fetch a player an exemption from qualifying rounds of most of the next year's tournaments. The PGA Tour organizes many events in different categories, these include Majors, Small field, Playoff event, World Golf Championships, Unique, Regular, Invitational and Alternate. Two major awards, for which players of PGA Tour mainly compete, are 'The PGA Player of the Year' award and 'Jack Nicklaus' award. The 2007 PGA Tour, started in January in Hawaii Islands, has total 48 events and will conclude with the Regular Fall Series in November.
