The Rex Hospital Open was started in 1994 as the NIKE Carolina Classic. Since then, it has been part of the Nationwide Tour. The TPC Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, North Carolina hosts the meet annually in the month of June. Due to change in sponsors, the tournament’s name has been changed many times.

Brenden Pappas clinched the 2006 Rex Hospital Open by a one-stroke victory over Charlie Wi. In doing so Pappas picked up the winner’s trophy as well as the cheque of $81,000. The tournament offered a total prize money of $450,000. The 2007 The Rex Hospital Open will be held in TPC at Wakefield Plantation,Raleigh, North Carolina from 1-4 June

The inaugural Rex Hospital Open was won by Skip Kendall in 1994. Since then a host of golfers have won here but no one has been able to win it twice. Here is a list of winners who have won here since it became part of the Nationwide Tour.
