The
Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open has been part of the Nationwide Tour since it was first played in 1990. The tour was also started in the same year by the US PGA Tour to promote golf among youngsters. As with most long running tournaments, the
Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open was known by a host of names over the year. In the beginning it was known as the Ben Hogan Reflection Ridge. The tournament has always been hosted at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kansas.

After trailing Matt Kuchar by three strokes after two rounds, Kevin Johnson played brilliantly in the last two rounds to clinch the 2006
Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open by one stroke over the former. In doing so he also received thew winner’s cheque of $ 90,000. The championship, generally held in the last week of July, had a total prize purse of $ 500,000.
