The Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic came into existence in 1992 and since then it has been part of the Nationwide Tour . It is played at the Midlands Country Club in Midland, Texas every year. Like the other tournaments on this tour the tournament's name has been changed many times. Here is a list of names by which it was known over the years.

An indifferent form in the last two rounds almost cost Brandt Snedeker costly but he held his nerve to win the 2006 Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic in a playoff. After round II he was leading comfortably by eight strokes but played a horrendous third round to see his lead come down to three strokes. Aron Price kept on piling the pressure as he leveled the scores after the end of the fourth round. However, he could not pull off a victory in the playoff and Snedeker went on to clinch the title. The tournament had a total prize purse of $ 475,000 of which the winner received $ 85,500. The meet is generally held in middle October.

Chad Campbell is one of the noted players who have won the Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic . He later made a name for himself at the senior tours.
