The
Northeast Pennsylvania Classic is annually played in August at the Glenmaura National Golf Club is Scranton, Pennsylvania. The tournament was first played at the turn of the century. It was first played in 2000 under the name of BUY.COM Streamtown Classic. From 2002, the tournament came to be known as the
Northeast Pennsylvania Classic. From the beginning itself the tournament has been part of the Nationwide Tour.
The final day of the 2006
Northeast Pennsylvania Classic belonged to Craig Bowden not because he had clinched the title but for the awesome display of golf. He entered the final round trailing Jess Daley by seven strokes but he carded eight-under-par to level the scores and push the tie into a playoff. Bowden held his nerve in the playoff and emerged victorious in the end. The tournament authorities awarded the winner a cheque of $ 85,500 out of the tournament’s purse of $ 475,000.
