The National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic is only three years old. It was first played in 2004 as the Pete Dye West Virginia Classic Presented by National Mining Assn. The Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia has been hosting the meet from the beginning. The tournament is held towards the end of August and has been a regular feature on the Nationwide Tour since 2004.
Jason Enloe won the 2006 National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic with a play off victory over Bob Weekley. After two rounds, he was trailing Weekley by four strokes but he recovered his form and leveled scores after the final round. In the playoff Enloe prevailed over his opponent to clinch the tile. He won $108,000 in prize money out of the tournament’s purse of $ 600,000.
