The Miccosukee Championship was first played in 2003 at the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club in Miami Florida. The meet was introduced into the Nationwide Tour instantly. The tournament was cancelled in 2005 as Hurricane Wilma swept through the Florida coastline, causing massive damage to property.
Initially trailing Bob Weekley by a single stroke, Bryce Molder came back strongly to win the 2006 Miccosukee Championship by one stroke. In the process he pocketed the winner's cheque of $ 90,000. The total prize money was $ 500,000 and the meet was held in end October.
