The Knoxville Open Presented by Food City was started in 1990, the same year the Nationwide Tour came into existence. Since then it has been part of this tour which is a platform for golfers to qualify for the US PGA Tour. Initially it was known as the Ben Hogan Knoxville Open but subsequently it came to be known by many other names. The tournament came to be known by its current name in 2002. The Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee has been hosting the meet since then. Here is a list of names by which the tournament was known.

The 2007 Knoxville Open Presented by Food City will be held in Fox Den CC,Knoxville, Tennessee, from 15-18 June.In spite of an indifferent final round, Hunter Haas had a three-stroke victory over joint runners-up Gary Christian and Parker McLachlin to clinch the 2006
LaSalle Knoxville Open Presented by Food City. As a result, he was awarded the winner’s cheque of $85,500. The tournament is generally held in the middle of June and the total prize for this year was $ 475,000.
