ShopRite LPGA Classic

The ShopRite LPGA Classic has been a part of LPGA Tour since 1986, when it was first played. It would cease to be a part of the tour from 2007 as the organizers have refused to change the dates of this tournament. Their original date has been allotted by the LPGA Tour to a new tournament. The Marriot Seaview Country Club and Resort in Atlantic City, Georgia had hosted the meet and is currently hosting it for the last nine years. In between, the tournament has been held two other courses: Sand Country Club (1988-90) and the Greate Bay Resort & Country Club (1991-97). The tournament holds a special place in Betsy King’s heart. It was after winning this tournament in 1995 she was incorporated into the Hall of Fame.
The 2006 ShopRite LPGA Classic went to the wire with the winner being decided via the playoff. Both Hee-Won Han and Meena Lee were on level terms at the end of regulation play but Han ended up clinching the title. The winner received $ 180,000 from the tournament purse of $ 1.2 million. The tournament was held in the last week of May.
Past Winners Both Annika Sorenstam and Betsy King have won the ShopRite LPGA Classic on three occasions. Here is a list of winners who have won here since it became part of the LPGA Tour.
