MasterCard Classic honoring Alejo Peralta

The MasterCard Classic honoring Alejo Peralta takes the LPGA Tour to Mexico. This tournament was first played in 2005 and is part of the tour's program to expand globally. It was immediately included into the tour's roster. The Bosque Real Country Club in Mexico City is the venue for the tournament.

Annika Sorenstam won the 2006 MasterCard Classic honoring Alejo Peralta with a one-stroke victory over Helen Alfredsson. Though she played poorly in the last round the lead that Annika had amassed in the first two rounds was enough to see her through. She took the winner's cheque of $ 180,000. The tournament was held in the middle of March and a prize purse of $ 1.2 million.

World No.1 Annika Sorenstam had won the first only one winner at the MasterCard Classic honoring Alejo Peralta in 2005.
