LPGA Corning Classic
The
LPGA Corning Classic is even older than the Sybase Classic Presented by Lincoln Mercury. It was commissioned in 1979 and since then it has been part of the LPGA Tour. The Corning Country Club in Corning, New York has been associated with this event since the beginning, i.e., in 1979. The 2007 LPGA Corning Classic will be held in Corning, New York, from 24-27 May.
The 2006
LPGA Corning Classic went to the wire with the winner being decided via the playoff. Both Hee-Won Han and Meena Lee were on level terms at the end of regulation play but Han ended up clinching the title. The winner received $ 180,000 from the tournament purse of $ 1.2 million. The tournament was held in the last week of May.
Past Winners
Though the LPGA Corning Classic has been held for a long time, only Betsy King and Rosie Jones have won it on more than one occasion. Both of them have won it twice each. Here is a list of winners who have won here since it became part of the LPGA Tour.
