Longs Drugs Challenge
In 1996, a new tournament became a part of the LPGA Tour roster. It was known as the Twelve Bridges LPGA Classic but from the very next year due to sponsorship reasons, came to be known as the Longs Drugs Challenge. The Twelve Bridges Club had hosted the tournament till 2001 and after that that the tournament was held at a varied number of courses in Northern California. The 2006 edition was held at the Blackhawk Country Club.
Annika Sorenstam finished second best twice in a row, as Karrie Webb won the 2006 Longs Drugs Challenge by one stroke. Annika played a superb final round but ultimately fell short by one stroke. The event is held in the third week of September and has a total prize money of $ 1.1 million. Karrie received $ 165,000 for her efforts.
