John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic Presented by SemGroup

The John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic Presented by SemGroup is a relatively new tournament. It was first played in 2001 and from then on it has been a part of the LPGA Tour. Till 2003 the Tulsa Country Club hosted this meet and from 2004 onwards the Cedar Ridge Country Club has been hosting it. Though this tournament has been played for a short period, its name has been changed many times. In the beginning it was known as the Williams Championship and from 2007 its name will be changed to SemGroup Championship presented by John Q. Hammons. Here is a list of names by which this tournament has been known.

Cristie Kerr defeated Annika Sorenstam by two strokes to clinch the 2006 John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic Presented by SemGroup. Annika was on a hat trick after winning here in 2005 and 2004 but could not complete it due to the brilliance of Cristie. She was trailing initially but in the end she picked up her game to romp home. The tournament was held over three rounds and is held in early September. The tournament purse was $ 1 million with Cristie getting $150,000.
