The Mallorca Classic has one of the smallest purses in the European Tour . The 2006 edition of the meet had a total prize of €700,000. As a result, none of the top ranked players are seen in action over here. It is the second of the two tournaments that are held in Portugal during the season. It was first played in the spring of 1993 and has been played around that time ever since.
The 2006 Mallorca Classic had a total prize money of €1.75 million and was won by Jean Van de Velde of France. He defeated lee Slattery of England by one stroke and received €1,16,660. Still the amount offered was below average for an European Tour event.
