The Dubai Desert Classic is the second of the three European Tour events that take place in the Middle East. It is held in the beginning of February. Barring in 1999 and 2000 when it was held at the Dubai Creek Golf Club, the tournament is held at the Majlis Course of the Emirates Golf Club. When it was first played in 1989, it became the first European Tour event in Middle East. The tournament was initially known as the Karl Litten Desert Classic but the following year it was changed to Emirates Airlines Desert Classic. Since 1992 it came to be known as the Dubai Desert Classic .
Tiger Woods won the 2006 Dubai Desert Classic beating Ernie Els in a playoff. Woods got €3,29,760 for this victory.
