The BMW International Open was founded in 1989 and has been a part of the European Tour ever since. It is not played on a single course but on several courses in and around Munich. It is one of the three tournaments on the European Tour that is played in Germany. The two other meets are Linde German Masters and Deutsche Bank Players Championship of Europe . The 2007 BMW International Tournament will be held in Golfclub Munchen-Nord, Eichenried, Germany, from 21 - 24 june.Following is a list of courses where the BMW International Open has been held.

The prize money offered by the BMW International Open is average compared to other meets on the tour. In 2006, it offered a total prize money of €2 million of which the winner's share was €3,33,330. It was a close fight between Henrik Stenson and Retief Goosen but ultimately Stenson won the title via the playoff. It is held in the last week of August and the first week of September.
