European Tour
The European Tour is part of the PGA European Tour , which has two other tours under its umbrella, the European Seniors Tour and the Challenge Tour. It is based in Virginia Water in Surrey, England at the Wentworth Club.
The European Tour was established by the Professional Golfers Association in Britain . However, they relinquished their responsibility and handed over the control to an independent PGA European Tour organization in 1984. Previously, most of the tournaments on the tour were held in Europe but in nowadays they are held all across the world.
Most of the tournaments on the European Tour that take place in Europe are played on the western side. The most lucrative among them are France, Britain, Spain and Germany. Only the Cadillac Russian Open takes place in Eastern Europe . Currently there are 51 tournaments taking place on the European Tour .
