The Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach is a tournament where Champions Tour players are paired with junior golfers or amateurs. It is played over two different golf courses: the Del Monte Golf Course, where the first two rounds are held and the Pebble Beach Golf Links, where the last two rounds are held. The purpose of the tournament is to help new upcoming players to build on their game. By coming in contact with the top players of yester years, they gain valuable experience which helps them in shaping their career better.
Held in September, the 2006 Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach was won by Scott Simpson. He beat David Edwards by one stroke only. The tournament had a total prize purse of $ 2 million out of which the winner received $ 300,000.
