US Senior open Championship

The US Senior Open Championship is the second of the major tournaments on the Champions Tour roster. Held by the United States Golf Association, it is recognized by both the Champions Tour and the European Seniors Tour on their Official Money List. When the tournament was first played in 1980, the lower age limit was 55 years but then it was reduced to 50 years. The tournament is not played at any particular course. In order to play at the US Senior Open Championship you will have to be eligible for invitation under any of the following categories:

• If you have won any major championship in the last 10 years
• If you have won the US Senior Open on a previous occasion
• If you have won the Senior PGA Championship on a previous occasion



• Winner of the last Senior British open
• Top 25 players at the last US Senior Open
• The top 25 players on the Champions Tour money list
• The top 30 players of the previous year Champions Tour money list
• Winners of Champions Tour events in the previous 3 years

The 2006 US Senior Open Championship was held at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. Allen Doyle became the oldest person in the history of the tournament to have won here. He won it at the age of 57 years, 11 months and seven days, beating Tom Watson by two strokes. He also won $470,000 in prize money out of the total purse of $ 2.6 million.

Legends like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold palmer and Gary palmer have all won the US Senior Open Championship . Miller barber has won it on three occasions while Allen Doyle has won it twice and is on a hat trick. Here is a list of winners who have won here since it became part of the Champions Tour .
