In 2001, a new tournament was started which became part of the Champions Tour immediately. It was known as the SAS Championship . It is held in the month of October every year. The lower age limit for the golfers is 50 years.
The 2006 SAS Championship was held at the Prestonwood Country Club with a total prize money of $ 2 million. Tom Jenkins took the winner's cheque of $ 300,000 with a one-stroke victory over Chip Beck.
