The Regions Charity Classic Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions had a very tragic beginning. It was first held in 1992 under the name of Bruno's Memorial Classic. Shortly before that, two of the tournament's founding members had died in a plane crash. Till this year, it has been played at the Greystone Golf & Country Club but from 2007 it will be played at the new Ross Bridge course. The tournament has been part of the Champions Tour from then on.
Brad Bryant scored a two-stroke victory over Mark McNulty to clinch the 2006 Regions Charity Classic Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions . He won $240,000 out of the tournament purse of $ 1.6 million.
