The Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn was started in 2003 and been a part of the Champions Tour since then. As the prize money offered is average many top golfers give the meet a miss. As is the standard practice, the lower age limit for the players is 50 years.
The 2006 Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn was held at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa in North Carolina. Andy Bean won the meet via the play-off over RW Eaks. Out of the tournament's total prize purse of $ 1.6 million he received $240,000.
