The Ford Senior Players Championship is the third of the major tournaments on the Champions Tour roster. However, it is not recognized by the European Seniors Tour and hence is not part of their Official Money List. First played in 1983, the tournament has a lower age limit of 50 years. Initially it was played over a number of different golf courses but from 1991 it has been annually played at the TPC of Michigan in Dearborn, Michigan.
Bobby Wadkins won the 2006 Ford Senior Players Championship by a one-stroke victory over Jim Thorpe. He received a cheque of $ 375,000 out of the tournament purse of $ 2.6 million.
