The Constellation Energy Classic has been a part of the Champions Tour since its inception in 1998. The lower age limit for the players is 50 years, in accordance with the standard norm.

The 2006 Constellation Energy Classic was won by Bob Gilder, who beat Brad Bryant by two strokes to take the title. The tournament had a total prize purse of $ 1.7 million of which the winner received $255,000.
