The 3M Championship Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions was first introduced on the European Tour calendar in the year 1993. It was then called as the Burnet Senior Classic and was known by this name till 2000. From then on its name was changed twice and ultimately cam to be known by its present name since 2001. In accordance with the norm of the tour, the tournament has a lower age limit of 50 years for the golfers.

The 2006 3M Championship Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions was held at the TPC Twin Cities in the month of August. David Edwards won the championship by two strokes over Brad Bryant. He received the winner's cheque of $ 262,500 from the total prize purse of $ 1.75 million.
