The Allianz Championship was first played in 2001 at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa. Since then it has been part of the Champions Tour . From next year, it will be played at the Old Course in Boca Raton, Florida.
The 2006 Allianz Championship had a prize purse of $1.5 million. Gil Morgan won by one stroke over Loren Roberts to take the winner's title. He also won $ 225000 in prize money.

The inaugural Allianz Championship was won by Jim Thorpe in 2001. Since then it has been won by different golfers each year. Here is a list of winners who have won here since it became part of the Champions Tour .
