Profile: David Toms won the first title of his career in 1984 at the Junior World Golf Championships. He won the title in the 15-17 Boys' category. IN 1989 he turned into a professional golfer and became a member of the US PGA Tour in 1992.
Till 1997, Toms was not able to win any title on this tour. His maiden title came at the 1997 Quad City Classic. From then onwards, he has won at least one tournament every season, barring 1998. His biggest victory in his career till now came in 2001 when he won the PGA Championship. This is the only major title that he has won so far. That year was also very productive for him as he won three tournaments that season.
In 2005, he was embroiled in a controversy when he was caught showing the middle finer towards a fan at the Memorial Tournament. However, he did not receive any punishment for that gesture. Toms has also been ranked amongst the top 10 golfers of the world for a considerable amount of time. Currently he is the 19 th ranked player in the world, according to the Official World Golf Rankings.
