The Valley Club Golf Course is located in Santa Barbara, California), known as the American Riviera.
History of the course
The Valley Club Golf Course was designed by famous golf course architect, Dr Alister Mackenzie in 1929. It is a typical example of Mackenzie's design with the course having nothing spectacular about it. There are some creeks on the course which come into play on many holes in this tight course. The huge trees present are also an aberration for the golfers as they are also a type of hazard. The greens are very quick while the fairways are narrow. In order to make the course challenging for the golfers, Mackenzie had introduced many hazards in the form of sand bunkers.
Over the years the course had lost many of its subtle features. In the middle of the 1990s the club authorities hired Tom Doak to restore these features. It is a par-72 course and measures 6,612 yards from the tips.
