Pacific Dunes
Located in Bandon, Oregon, the Pacific Dunes golf course is a links course set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, giving you a breathtaking view of the ocean along with a round of golf.
History of the course
The Bandon Dunes Resort offers two golf courses to its boarders: the Bandon Dunes and the Pacific Dunes . Of the two courses the Pacific Dunes is the most famous. It was built just north of the Bandon Dunes along a stretch on the Pacific Ocean coastline and was designed by Tom Doak. While playing the wind plays a very big role and determines the selection of clubs for any hole. In fact, every hole, every hazard and every shot is defined by nature's never-ending presence. The greens are small while the fairways are undulating. The bunkers are as wide as 60 feet and are covered with native vegetation. It is a par-71 course and measures about 6,600 yards from end to end. The course bears a very close resemble to the links courses of Scotland, the birthplace of golf.
Course Trivia The Pacific Dunes course has two of the largest bunker complexes in the US.
- The fourth hole is perched on a cliff with the Pacific Ocean in the background. It offers a spectacular view with the ocean coming into play for the first time.
- While enjoying your round of golf you will have to work your way around the course as golf carts are not available here.
