Los Angeles (North)
The Los Angeles Country Club has two golf courses: the North Course and the South Course. Situated in Los Angeles, the first course is better known than the other one.
History of the course
Herbert Fowler designed the North Course and it was opened for play in 1921 but it was not until 1927 when George C Thomas rerouted the course. Robert Muir Graves renovated both the courses in 1982. The layout is very captivating with the hills, ridges, swales and valleys coming into view. The par-three holes deserve special mention as they are long and noteworthy.
The seventh hole requires you to concentrate even harder as you will have to cover a distance of around 240 yards to avoid the hazards.
Course Trivia
- The ninth hole is the signature hole. It is a par-three hole with the clubhouse at the back.
- The Los Angeles Country Club is private, so if you want to enjoy a round of golf here you will have to be friendly with a member.
The Los Angeles (North) holds the 37 th spot in the list of Top 100 Golf Courses in the US, released by Golf Digest magazine in 2005. As we continue on this tour we will learn about the other top-100 golf courses in the world.
