Hirono
The Hirono Golf Club located around 15 miles northwest of Kobe is home to the best golf course in Japan.
History of the course
Charles Alison, an Englishman, founded the Hirono Golf Club in 1932. He also designed the course and is also credited with designing a number of courses in Japan . The Hirono golf course came up on a part of a large estate belonging to former feudal warlord Viscount Kuki. The area had a combination of beautiful lakes and pretty ponds, natural valleys and ravines, good and gentle undulations all around, rivulets, mountains, hillocks and woodlands. Alison found the found the setting perfect for a golf course and went upon his the task of designing it.
Several holes on this course are modeled on the British courses. The course is famous for its final three holes which are very difficult and has been instrumental in damaging the scores of many potential winners.
