Highlands Links
The Highlands Links Golf Course , located at the tip of the scenic Cape Breton Highlands Park in Nova Scotia, Canada, is famously called Mountains and Ocean Course .
History of the course
The Highlands Links Golf Course was laid out in 1939 after Stanley Thomson had designed it. As the course is set in Nova Scotia, Mount Franey stands as the backdrop to the course. It is one of the most stunning locations in Canada where you are bound to enjoy your round of golf. The course is routed in a traditional format, i.e., out-and-back routing. The terrain is wonderfully suited for building a golf course with its pitches and rolls.
Course Trivia
- Thomson named all the holes of the Highlands Links Golf Course in a true Scottish tradition. The sixth hole is named after Mucklemouth Meg, who had swallowed an entire turkey egg in one gulp.
The Highlands Links Golf Course is one of the top golf courses in Canada . Worldwide, it is 22 nd best course, according to Golf Digest magazine's list of Top 100 Golf Courses outside the US, in 2005. As we continue on this tour we will learn about the other top-100 golf courses in the world.
