Harbor Town
Harbor Town is a resort in Sea Pines, South Carolina, and has three 18-hole golf courses. The best known among them is Harbor Town Golf Links .
History of the course
The Harbor Town Golf Links was designed by Pete Dye and was opened in 1969. While constructing the course, he had consulted legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. The course is inspired from the Scottish courses. The course measures 6,973 yards from the tips. The course will require you to hit straight accurate shots in order to reach the greens.
The fairways were built on flat terrain and are lined by pine trees. The small greens are slightly sloped and have medium speed.
Course Trivia
- The Harbor Town Golf Links has been hosting the Verizon Heritage tournament since 1969. This tournament falls in the US PGA Tour roster.
- There are two other courses at this facility: the Oceans Course and the Sea Marsh Course.
The Harbor Town Golf Links was the top ranked course in South Carolina . It also holds the 97 th spot in Golf Digest magazine's list of 100 top golf courses in the US in 2005. As we continue on this tour we will learn about the other top-100 golf courses in the world.
