Set on backdrop of the Indian Ocean, the Durban Country Club is probably the best course in South Africa). It is located at Durban in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province of the country.
History of the course
The Durban Country Club was formed in 1922 with the pair of Laurie Waters and George Waterman designing the course. The Indian Ocean borders the course on one side while the city surrounds it on the other sides. It is a very serene experience to play golf here away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course is hidden from the ocean by a series of sand dunes that throng the course. The holes wind their way through natural vegetation on the course.
The first five holes at the Durban Country Club Course is argued by some critics as the best opening holes in the world. The back nine holes are across plain ground compared to the roller coaster front nine holes.
Course Trivia
