Cruden Bay
The Cruden Bay Golf Club is located on the northeast corner of the Buchan Peninsula between the port cities of Peterhead and Aberdeen in Scotland.
History of the course
Old Tom Morris designed the Cruden Bay Golf Course , which opened in 1899. There is evidence that the course dates back to the late 18 th century. A ballot box was found on which it was inscribed Cruden Golf Club 1791. However, the club came into existence 100 years later when Old Morris was appointed by the Great North of Scotland Railway to build the course. A railway line was extended to the club and a hotel was also built.
In 1926, the course was redesigned by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler but some of Morris' routing has been kept intact. This links course has been on the rugged shoreline of Scotland. Some of the sand dunes are as high as three-storey buildings. The fairways are humped and hollowed which wind their way along the greens. Some of the tees are set on the dunes. The course also gives you a panoramic view of the sea.
