History of the Course:
The Seignosse Golf Club is located in the hilly region of Landes in picturesque Seignosse, belonging to the Biarritz region of southern France. The beautiful 18-hole course is subtly crafted amidst the forest area of pine and oak trees on a hilly terrain, very near to the Bay of Biscay.
The Seignosse Golf Club was designed by well known American architect, Robert von Hagge, in 1989.
The 6129 metres, par 72, course of the Seignosse Golf Club consists of a fabulous wooded parkland style course. The short layout consists of the 18 holes, mostly doglegged, winding their way through the dense woods on the hilly undulating topography.
The greens are well conditioned and contoured, with pine tree-lined narrow fairways, native vegetation bordering the greens, ample green bunkers, sand traps, water hazards and steep slopes of the region, make this course an overall tough and demanding creation.
The Seignosse Golf Club is situated amidst spectacular woodland beauty, with a unique experience of the tranquil surroundings, and provides all level of golfers with a challenge, to test their accuracy, strategy and skills.
The Clubhouse of The Seignosse Golf Club provides restaurant facilities including breathtaking views of the entire course and the distant ocean.
Course Trivia:
- The Seignosse Golf Club is another famous creation of Robert von Hagge and along with the Golf National and Les Bordes, his creations rank amongst France's topmost clubs and is home to Spaniard golfer, Jose Maria Olazabal.
- The Seignosse Golf Club can be played with a Biarritz Golf Pass, belonging to the Biarritz region itself along with the other courses in the region.
- The Seignosse Golf Club also houses a well stocked Pro-Shop with popular golf brands and also belongs to the Blue Green Group of Hotels, serving fine dining and wonderful accommodation.
- Amongst the famous holes at the Seignosse Golf Club, its par 5, 11 th hole contains an elevated tee area, 90 feet below to the fairways, as well as more trouble in the form of a dogleg to the uphill green. Other holes include its water hazard course of the 2 nd , 4 th and 17 th holes, along with beautiful views of the sea from its 9 th hole.
