PGA Golf de Catalunya –Spain
The PGA Golf de Catalunya is a spectacular resort golf course of Spain and is also regarded amongst Europe's finest courses.
History of the Course:
The PGA Golf de Catalunya resort is located in the picturesque town of Caldes de Malavella, near Girona, in the Costa Brava beachlands area of Cataluña, Spain. The P.G.A. Golf de Catalunya consists of two excellent 18 hole courses, namely its Green course ( 6588 meters )and its recent Red course( 5901 meters ).
The 36 hole scenic PGA Golf de Catalunya courses are subtly crafted amidst the rolling parkland landscape of oak, pine and evergreen trees with the Pyrenees forming a splendid backdrop complete with the pleasant Mediterranean climate.
The 18 hole PGA Golf de Catalunya championship course was designed by architects Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles and opened in June 1999. Its new course was opened in October 2005.
The par 72 championship course of the PGA Golf de Catalunya Resort layout consists of a well conditioned course complete with quick greens, vast undulating fairways winding through the dense parkland trees; rolling slopes due to the natural hilly terrain; bunkers as well as trees and lakes that form the hazards on the course.
The long course also consists of five different tees for each hole, unique amongst Spanish courses, that supports handicap measures, and also provides a tough challenge for all levels of golfers.
The new course, based on the same features as its championship course, however with larger greens and wider fairways, complements the prestige of the P.G.A Golf de Catalunya Resort, making it dwell amongst Spain's elite courses.
