History of the Course:
The Le Querce Golf Club is located in the scenic ancient country town of Sutri, in Lazio, near Rome, Italy. The beautiful 18-hole golf course is subtly crafted amidst the hilly undulating terrain, surrounded by wooded forests of mature oaks and natural countryside vegetation.
The Le Querce Golf Club was formed in 1985, while play began in 1990. Its masterpiece course was designed by Italian golf architects Jim Fazio and David Mezzacane. This magnificent country-side course offers a panoramic brilliance along with a dynamic challenge to all golfers.
The 6,052 meters, par 72, championship course of the Le Querce Golf Club consists of a fabulous layout, winding through the stands of oak trees, small lakes and rolling hilly countryside topography. The course greens are well-groomed yet difficult with natural contours being incorporated into play; vast undulating tree-lined fairways dotted by innumerable sand bunkers, natural undergrowth, as well as ample water hazards.
An overall review of this course would state that, along with its fabulous variations in its holes, and the tranquility of its surrounds, makes this course a difficult challenge for all levels of golfers, testing their accuracy and golf skills, as well as a unique golfing experience here in the Italian countryside.
The grand Clubhouse of the Le Querce Golf Club offers various services including restaurant, bars, gym, swimming-pool, as well as fantastic views of the beautiful course below.
Course Trivia:
- The Le Querce Golf Club designer Jim Fazio, is the nephew of renowned and revered golf course illustrator, George Fazio.
- The Le Querce Golf Club is crafted amidst huge stands of mature oak trees and is more commonly known here in English as “the Oaks” Club.
- The Le Querce Golf Club has been host to numerous golf events, as well has hosted the 1991 Golf World Cup, now synonymous with the World Golf Championships, with the event being won by Per- Ulrik-Johansson and Anders Forsbrande, both from Sweden.
- The Le Querce Golf Club is a National PGA Center and was formed to house the Italian Golf Federation.
- The Le Querce Golf Club offers fabulous accommodation, baby-sitting centre, golf practice zone and facilities including driving range, a three hole Executive course, Pro-shop and is also home to the San Martino Golf Academy.
- Amongst the many famous and tricky holes at the Le Querce Golf Club, its magnificent opening hole with an elevated tee area, over viewing the course speaks for the great course itself ; but its signature hole is the uphill 400 metres – 4th hole. Also amongst its crafty holes are its hilly 1st and 10th holes.
