History of the Course:
The Hamburger Golf Club-Falkenstein is located in the serene wooded region of Hamburg, 25 km south from the city centre, in Germany. The beautiful 18-hole course is subtly crafted amongst the natural heathland vegetation and woodlands area.
The esteemed Hamburger Golf Club was established years ago in 1906, with golf being played then on a 9-hole course at Flottbek. This course hosted the inaugural German Open Championship in 1910, which led to its fame as well as the demand for a bigger 18-hole course.
Thus, the location for the Hamburg Golf Club's new 18-hole course was sought at Falkenstein. The masterpiece Falkenstein course was designed by the team of Harry Shapland Colt, Charles Hugh Alison and John Morrison towards the late 1920's. Standing through the ravages of the war-years, Falkenstein forms the present course of the Hamburger Golf Club.
The 5,387 metres, par 71 course of the Hamburger Golf Club-Falkenstein is an amazing heathland course carved through the heath and native vegetation on the undulating terrain. Its layout consists of well conditioned vast greens, tree-lined fairways bordered by the native shrubs, craftily placed bunkers as well as slopes with a rate of 133.
