The Halmstad Golf Club
The Halmstad Golf Club is a magnificent Championship course in Sweden and also rated as its best.
History of the Course:
The Halmstad Golf Club is located in the seaside resort of Tylösand, subtly carved amidst the pine forests in the Halmstad region of Sweden. It consists of two main courses, namely its Championship North Course and South Course.
The Halmstad Club was originally established way back in 1930 but construction at its Tylösand venue began in 1935, being designed by architect Rafael Sundblom. Then in 1963, nine holes were added by architect Nils Sköld, rechristening it as Halmstad's famous, 18 hole, magnificent Championship North Course.
In 1975, British architect Frank Pennink designed nine additional holes for the Halmstad's less popular, South Course.
The 6847 yards, par 72 Championship North Course of the Halmstad Golf Club is a beautifully crafted, forest type course built amidst sandy dunelands with a stream winding its way through. The layout consists of well conditioned quick greens, large tee areas; vast, undulating tree- lined fairways bounded by taut bunkers; natural slopes and brooks adding to the difficulty and challenge.
Besides the course's fine greens offering fabulous putting surfaces and excellent turf drainage through its sandy soil, its tranquil settings amidst the pine woodlands and the sea, offers golfers with a unique memorable and calming experience.
The historic Clubhouse, designed by architect Hakon Ahlberg in 1938, still maintains its grandeur and offers various services including dining, restaurants, coffee shop as well as a spot to enjoy the spectacular views of the course and take in the salty breath of the sea.
