The El Saler Golf Club is a beautiful seaside course and is also amongst Spain's famous golf courses.
History of the Course:
The El Saler Golf Club is located in the Paradores beach lands, overlooking the vast blue expanse of the Mediterranean Sea with the Gredos mountain range as a backdrop, in Comunidad Valencia, Spain. The beautiful 18 hole course is subtly crafted amidst the sandy dunes land and pine forests of the Albufera natural reserve.
The El Saler Golf Course opened in 1968 and was designed by Spanish golf architect Javier Arana, with holes typical of the links style splendor, reminiscent of Scottish courses.
The 7085 yards, par 72 golf course of the El Saler Golf Club is a coastal parkland style course set beside the sea. The layout consists of well-conditioned vast greens, brilliant wide fairways dotted with numerous links style bunkers; sand traps, roughs, sand dune slopes and firm holes lined with pine trees and native shrubs known as "cat's claw". The course offers three different tees adding to excellent golf play combined with its natural surroundings and the Mediterranean winds to experience links style golf.
The Club de Golf El Saler course is very challenging and tough, yet fair and is accessible with daft accuracy in shots and ideal club selection, testing one's golfing abilities and skills.
Course Trivia:
- The El Saler Golf Club has been host to various European PGA qualifying events, Spanish Opens and other European professional and amateur golfing events.
- Some of golf's greats that have played at the El Saler course includes current course record holder, Bernhard Langer of Germany, with 62 strokes; as well as Spaniards José María Olazábal and Miguel Ángel Jiménez.
- The El Salver Golf Club has been highly ranked with a score of 60, recently in the “World's 100 best courses” of the U.S. published, Golf Magazine .
- Amongst the famous holes at the El Saler Club, its 404 metre, par 4, 6 th hole is the toughest-comprising of a left dogleg to the hole, it is bounded by ominous bunkers and traps that requires a mighty yet accurate shot to reach safely with a good score.
- The El Saler club also offers various golfing facilities including its Pro-shop, putting greens, and a driving range.
