Castelconturbia Golf Club -Italy
History of the Course:
The Castelconturbia Golf Club is located in the picturesque woodland region of the Agrate Conturbia region, near Milan, in Piemonte, of the Lombardia region of Italy.
The Castelconturbia Golf Club has a long history behind its creation. It was originally established in 1898, with 9-holes being formed under Count Gaspar Voli. However, over the years, the club underwent many changes, to be inaugurated once again in 1984, with its present name and currently offering 27-holes of enticing yet challenging golf.
The Castelcontrubia Golf Club 27-holes were designed and completed by 1927, by world renowned golf architect, Robert Trent Jones Sr. The 27-holes club consists of three marvelous 9-hole , par 36 courses, namely-
- The 3,266 metres Red Course or, the Oaks Trees Course;
- The 3,085 metres Yellow Course or, the Pines Course;
- The 3,145 metres Blue Course or, the Chestnuts Course;
- and, also three Par 3, Executive practice holes.
The Castelconturbia Golf Courses offers 18-hole combinations from amongst the three, interchangeable 9-holes; but, the Blue and Yellow courses are used for important tournaments. The variety, challenge and strategy offered by these courses require precision, to experience golfing excellence.
The grand Clubhouse of the Castelconturbia Golf Club offers various services including accommodation, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis court, gym as well as spectacular views of the natural surroundings and the entrance to the three superb courses from its terrace.
Course Trivia:
- The Castelconturbia Golf Club is host to numerous golf events and national championships including the prestigious Italian Open in 1991 and 1998. Here, the Blue-Yellow course layouts were used for the event.
- The Castelconturbia Golf offers various golf practice facilities including driving range, putting greens, Pro-shop.
- The Castelconturbia Golf Club course record is held by Josè Maria Olazabal (1998) and Costantino Rocca, with a score of 66, at the Italian Opens.
- Amongst the famous holes at the Castelconturbia Golf Club is the dogleg par4- 7th hole (Yellow course) that descends to an island green; the closing par5 of the (Red Course); however, the Yellow course is said to have the best 9-holes in Italy.
