History of the Course:
The Heritage Golf & Country Club is situated in Victoria’s beautiful hill region of Yarra Valley, famous for its vineyards. It is famous for its two brilliantly designed golf courses namely its, St. John Course and the newly built, Henley Course.
The Heritage Golf Club- (St. John’s Course) was designed by world renowned golfing great and architect, Jack Nicklaus in the year 2000.
The 6,667 metres, par 72 St. John Course of the Heritage Golf Club is a parkland style course created amidst the scenic backdrop of the magnificent Yarra Valley. The layout of the course consists of perfectly manicured greens, vast undulating couch grass fairways, well positioned bunkers and sand traps, natural slopes and mounds along with various water hazards to form an irresistibly challenging game of golf.

The spectacular Clubhouse of the Heritage Golf Club provides members with many services and facilities that include dining, private lounge area, pro-shop, bar and the magnificent Yarra restaurant. One can even relax, after a tiring day of golf, by sipping on local Yarra Valley wine and admiring the stunning hillside beauty of the valley along with the view of the panoramic, St. John course.
Course Trivia:
- The Heritage Golf and Country Club offers exquisite services and wonderful Corporate Golf Packages as well.
- The St. John course’s world famous golfer-designer, Jack Nicklaus, has also assisted as consultant for the newly developed, second golf course of the Heritage Club. The latest course is the Henley Championship golf course-a traditional links style, 18 hole course by designer Tony Cashmore.
- The Heritage, created as a genuine Country Club, also offers excellent accommodation suites at its prized Sebel Heritage Yarra Valley.
- Amongst the brilliantly designed holes of the Heritage, St. John’s course, the holes that stand out as its toughest is the 416 metres, par 4, 5th hole, that requires golfers to land accurately within the narrow fairways and to avoid the various bunkers guarding the greens. Another hole is its par 3, 11th hole with a water hazard and a rock quarry to overcome- they provide an interesting challenge for one’s golfing skills!
The Heritage Golf & Country Club-(St. John Course) is a private golf course. Guests must be accompanied by a member.
As per the Australian Top 100 Golf Courses (2006 rankings), The Heritage Golf Club-(St. John course) has been ranked as No. 35.
