Portsea Golf Club,Victoria

The Portsea Golf Club is another wonderful golf club on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

History of the Course:

The Portsea Golf Links Estate was born during the 1920's. With the new Portsea Golf Club growing steadily with members and financial security, the course initially consisted of 11 holes, designed by architect Jock Young in 1925. Over the years, the course received newer holes when finally, in 1965, it was a complete18 hole golfing wonder. These were designed by Sloan Morpeth (1962).

The par 72 Portsea Golf Course has a links style layout set amidst rolling sand dunes.

Etched through natural tea tree scrub, the course is purely sand based. Its well manicured couch grass fairways form a great play maker even during rainy days due to the natural drainage qualities of its soils. With recent modifications made to the course by renowned golf architect Mike Clayton, its bunkers, greens and teeing zones have created an exciting challenge for all level of golfers, to enjoy a unique links experience!

The Clubhouse of the Portsea Golf Course was until 1993, the old cottage that served up a charming, country style atmosphere through its “warm tea and freshly made scones”; however, the new modern Clubhouse also provides services and facilities to golfers such as catering, corporate functions, club and bar for its members, as well as a place to relax after a tiring day of golf! One can simply sink in the panoramic view of the undulating, coastal, links style golf course.
