The Dunes,VIC
The Dunes Golf Course in Victoria is another famous public access, links style course in Australia's Mornington Peninsula.
History of the Course:
Located on the rolling sand dunes of the Mornington Peninsula, in the area known as the “Cups Country”, the Dunes Golf Club forms an exquisite links-style golf course as in the original Irish or Scottish links.
The Dunes Links golf course was designed by Tony Cashmore and opened in March 1997.
Set adjacent to the beautiful Bass Strait, the Dunes course with its vast coastal sand dunes and treeless terrain form a tough challenge with the constant winds blowing in. The amazing topography complements the golfer with its natural bunkers and rough native fairway grasses; along with the unsteady rise and fall of mound and ridges, the entire surroundings are at the mercy of the elements.
The fully irrigated greens at the Dunes Course are bentgrass, while the fairways are the ultra modern Santa Ana couch grass.
While the Cups classic 9 hole course is a stress-free, par 33 layout designed for casual golfers, the 18 holes Dunes Championship course forms a formidable challenge to golfers of all levels.
The Clubhouse of the Dunes Golf Course also offers golfers excellent facilities in regards to dining, cuisine and relaxation.
