Gibraltar Football Association has its dates of origin back to the year of 1895, when it was more popular as the Gibraltar Civilian Football Association. The Gibraltar Football Association is in fact one of the oldest one of its kind in the entire world. The Gibraltar Football Association formed a national team in order to compete against the military teams.
The Gibraltar Football Association is yet to become a member of the Union of European Football Associations. It is only after the membership of the Union of European Football Associations that the national team of football in Gibraltar can take part in the Football world and the European Football Championship.

The home stadium of the Gibraltar National Football team is that of Victoria Stadium. The first international football game played by the national team of Football of Gibraltar was against Servilla FC.
The Gibraltar Football Association has Joseph Nunez as the president. Initially the Gibraltar Civilian Football Association consisted of ten members only. The Gibraltar Football Association played its first ever league match in the month of October in the year 1907, however against a local team.
