Gibraltar Cricket is played at the international level by the Gibraltar Cricket team. The Gibraltar Cricket team received the ICC membership in the year 1969 and presently represents the country of Gibraltar in the overseas British territories. Prior to the establishment of the Gibraltar Cricket team, during the 18th century, cricket in Gibraltar used to be played by the British servicemen. In the northern region of the Rock of Gibraltar, there used to be a playground where the cricket matches were played. By the year, 1822, the British servicemen as well as the common people of Gibraltar were into the play of cricket.
The Gibraltar Cricket Club was formed in the year 1883. The later years saw the formation of the Gibraltar Cricket Association. The association was ultimately established in the year 1960. Gibraltar Cricket flourished mainly after the 1930s, when a whole range of cricketers started flocking the country. The present location of the Victoria Stadium was provided to the Gibraltar Cricket Team after the War, previous to which the team used to play at the stadium beside the Rock of Gibraltar.
