Weather in Germany

Germany lies close to the Arctic Circle than to the equator and latitudes just north of the United States-Canadian border, yet the weather in Germany is moderate. A maritime climate is enjoyed by the Northwestern and Coastal Germany. The warm westerly winds from the North Sea are responsible for such conditions. The weather in Germany is a transitional one with maritime climate in the Northwest and a Continental climat e in the East. Western and Northern Germany enjoy a moderate temperature in winter and a cool temperature in summer. The air masses from the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea bring in quite a lot of moisture also. However, further inland the seasonal variations in temperature are greater with the summers more warm and winters colder.

July is the month when the weather in Germany becomes rainy and the country witnesses more than abundant rainfall . The summer months witness a lot of storms; these storms are often accompanied with thunders and lightnings. The average temperatures vary from 2degreeC in the summers and 24degreeC in the winter but long intense summer or continuous heavy frost is rare feature of the weather in Germany.

However, the weather in Germany often varies from year to year. At times, spring may appear early and extend through a hot, rainless summer to a drought prone dry autumn. Again in some other year spring is interrupted in May by a frosty lapse, popularly known as 'die drei Eisheiligen' which means the ' three ice saints'. This is invariably followed by a summer which is cool and rainy.

Thus the weather in Germany is not very predictable and can always take you by surprise. The weather you experience may completely be different from what you had expected and vise versa.
