The responsibilities of German Embassy are divided into following sections:-

• Economical - The goal of the department of economics is to foster and maintain the German-Australian economic relations. The economic section works with the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Sydney and Melbourne as well as other partner organizations.

• Consular - The legal and consular section of the Embassy ensures - together with the Consulates General in Sydney and Melbourne - that German citizens who reside in the Embassy's jurisdiction get assistance within the framework of legal and practical possibilities should they require advice or assistance

• Political - The department also informs the governments of the host countries about political developments in Germany, particularly in matters of foreign security and third world politics.

• Cultural – This department is responsible for looking after the educational organizations and German schools in different states. It is also associated with other responsibilities that include German speaking associations, youth exchange, relations with religious and sport communities.

• The Defense attaché – the responsibility of the Defense Attaché is to support the German ambassadors of Australia and New Zealand regarding defense or security policies.

• The Press Section - Press department of German Embassy works on the relationship between German Medias and Press.
